Recent Updates

TLDR; minor app updates across the board and a new in-app purchase.

Over the past three weeks, I've shipped several updates across multiple of One Thirteen's applications. None of them are particularly massive or major on their own, but put them together and they culiminate in a nice suite of changes.

Quick.Link and Quick.Link+

A few weeks ago, I released the biggest update to Quick.Link since it's initial release: Quick.Link 2. This update brought several useful features such as multiple endpoints (refinement), QR code generation and customization, bulk editing, server sync, and more. The update was truly massive. Since QL2, I've shipped two more updates to refine the experience and expand Quick.Link's feature set.

Version 2.1 introduced support for Quick.Link's Analytics and Campaigns plugins, which can be inspected and installed here. When Quick.Link detects these plugins on your server, new options and fields appear in the app, providing greater control and insights.

Quick.Link+

Image Version 2.1.1 reintroduced Quick.Link+ to the app, which gates several features behind a one-time unlock ($3.99). For existing users, you can continue to use Quick.Link as you have been. This change only applies to new users who are finding the app on the App Store.

Which brings me to the why. Despite my past statements believing the opposite, Quick.Link has seeing a nice stream of downloads lately, and the amount of work to ensure the app works for everyone has increased. To help offset some of the time and cost of maintaining Quick.Link, and all of our apps, we've begun to introduce in-app purchases. I don't expect anyone to purchase any of our app's IAPs unless it's truly providing a service, but the option is there for anyone interested.

Cribbo Price Drop

After being on the App Store for over two months, we've decided that $1.99 may have been a bit too steep of a price for a HomeKit logger in 2026. Initially, the plan was to undercut other apps in the space that, somehow, charge a subscription for a similar service. I felt $1.99 was an appropriate price, but I was wrong. Effective immediately, Cribbo's price is now $0.99. With any luck, this will help drive some more downloads, but time will tell.

Bit Buddy 3.1

I've also begun work on the next version of Bit Buddy, which is shaping to be more of an incremental update than a substantial one. Bit Buddy is quite mature in it's life at this time. I find myself struggling to come up with new, useful, features to add that won't bloat the experience more than it already is.

That said, Version 3.1 will bring several bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as the typical "design refine." I'm unsure when Bit Buddy 3.1 will be available, but I'm sure it won't be too long.

Other Projects

In addition to app-related updates, I've also made several changes to this website and One Thirteen's. The updates on this website are somewhat small, mostly performance and page work. Since publishing the changes, the site does feel faster, but I've been trained to be cautiously optimistic.

The One Thirteen website changes are also small in nature, but they help refine the entire experience when navigating the website. The Quick.Link pages have been updated to use proper icons and backgrounds, as well as several of device mockups being remade or reuploaded. The One Thirteen website also has a brief writeup on Quick.Link+, if you're interested.

Lastly, I've also spent some time developing a short film that I hope to being production on at some point. Time will tell when that actually is, but I really like where the script is right now. I'm giving myself some time to disconnect from it before reading and editing again, but so far...I like it!

Wrap this up, so I can go home

I know, I know. I've used that heading/quote before, but it's just too good not to use again.

That's (pretty much) everything I've been up to since the last post on this site. Remember when I said none of it was particularly exciting? While these updates may not be flashy or the most jaw dropping, I think they're quite meaningful in refining the app experience for both existing and new users alike. After all, that is One Thirteen's whole identity, right? Right.

Alright, I won't keep you any longer. Thanks for hanging out with me. I'll catch you on the internet.

Nick out.
