A while back, I teased that I was starting to work on the next version of Bit Buddy, Version 3.1. Today, that version is finally released to the public, and while it isn't a major overhaul or redesign like previous updates, it does bring some useful features and some much-needed polish.
Tweaks
With every update, I tweak and adjust countless areas of the app to try and make things feel ever more polished. In this update, these tweaks take a much subtler form, adjusting corner radii, sheet presentations, links, spacing, and more. The result is a much thinner feeling Bit Buddy.
Smart Views
Smart Views are a new way to quickly filter your device list without having to manually create the filters yourself. You can choose any number of pre-made filters from the new filter sheet, and you can supplement that filter with any of the tags that you have saved.
Collection Checkup & Advisor
The new Collection Checkup sheet (available from Stats Widgets) provides useful recommendations and insights on your devices. The previous Collection Health feature worked okay, but this new iteration expands on it in every meaningful way. For Bit Buddy Pro users, Collection Advisor unlocks AI analysis and recommendations using on-device or cloud AI. Read more about Bit Buddy's use of AI here.
App Icon
It's almost become a bit of a running joke at this point that the app icon for Bit Buddy is constantly changing, but with this update, the reason is a little bit more future focused. I have another app that I've been working on that utilize the same sort of color profile as Bit Buddy. While I think Bit Buddy certainly does have a right to its colors, I think these new color options, especially with the new app, work a lot better. I'm sorry for teasing the new app like I am, but trust me it'll be worth it.
Bug Fixes
As with every update, I've worked hard to identify any bugs and tried my best to remove them. I'm sure I missed a few, but its a process!
Available Now
Bit Buddy 3.1 is available to download now on the Apple App Store. For a more detailed account of the changes, visit the Changelog.
